Subtitles

Well fancy that. Just back from the club to find Charlotte's handiwork. Not a bad likeness, really.

Now that I'm getting on, I'm going a bit mutton, so I often watch the news and weather with the Ceefax Page 888 subtitles on.

Tonight I learnt that the Queen had spent Gordon Brown to deliver a telegram to Britain's oldest man, that it will be Chile in some parts of the south tonight, and tomorrow will have some clout, with a shot of rain in Aristide Close. Amazing how detailed they can get the forecasts these days.

Glad I don't live in Aristide Close but I think I should try those subtitles some time. So how do you do get them then?

Three Cheer's for Charlotte I say!
It's been uncannily like holding a conversation with my nonogerian father -in-law, (who by the way bears a passing resemblance to your picture) with no comment available!
Keep it up...you brighten my day!

I'll go along with that, Nethercourt.
We've all been waiting with baited breath.
Nice to get the chance to interact, else we may as well be watching the telly.
Pleasure to meet you Angie.
Not sure how some parts of the South becoming a Third World Country will result in us having clout the following day?
Were you suggesting that your eyesight may be failing too?

Dear All,

It's nice to have some company, I had no idea so many people were reading my drivel.

To answer your questions in order:

1. Yes I am a bit deaf
2. Just press text on your remote, then dial in 888. That will bring back the TV picture, but with subtitles
3. I used to be a member of the No No Gerians, but all that second coming talk put me off
4. I assume that, because whoever is typing in the Ceefax subtitles is having to do it 'live', they make the occasional, well frequent actually, mistake.

Thank you all for visiting I'm off to mow the lawn if my back doesn't kill me first.

Yours sincerely,

Tam

Sometimes selective deafness can be good.
I often switch my twin digital aids from suround sound to the nutral position and adopt a blank expression.
Especialy at meetings with management.
By the way welcome to blogging.

Hello Mr Snailspace,

I clicked onto your blog, those are rather fine drawings you have there. Do you do them yourself?

Also, apologies to Ms Weed if I caused any offence with my latest Weedol item.

Kind regards,

Tam
